The Water Security, Sanitation, and Hygiene Data & Analytics (WSSH D&A) Activity is a global program aimed at increasing the use of data and analytics to accelerate progress towards a water-secure world. The program is implemented by SEGURA Consulting in collaboration with a consortium of partners including Akvo, EnCompass, Itad, and Tetra Tech.
WSSH D&A’s key objectives include:
Strengthening the WSSH data landscape through research and WSSH sector engagement,
Designing new WSSH decision support tools for USAID and stakeholders,
Monitoring high-level impacts of USAID’s WSSH systems strengthening work, and
Providing on-demand customized support to USAID Operating Units to enable evidence-informed decision-making.
Key Objectives
Strengthening the WSSH Data Landscape
Guided by a diverse expert advisory panel, WSSH D&A will elevate global WSSH data efforts and highlight the benefits of using data in the WSSH sector through a series of research briefsand interactive virtual events. WSSH D&A will also deploy grants to invest in promising digital public goods that support use of WSSH data and facilitate increased data sharing by sector actors.
Supporting Data-Informed Decisions
WSSH D&A will develop new demand-driven and user-friendly decision support tools and engage with USAID Missions to identify actionable insights from the tools. Additionally, the teamwill provide training to USAID implementing partners and others working on WSSH on takingaction-based insights by ensuring decision-makers have the knowledge, access and ability touse a range of decision support solutions.
Monitoring WSSH Acceleration Resulting from USAID’s System Strengthening Work
Aligned with the Global Water Strategy, USAID High Priority Countries (HPCs) increasinglyseek to monitor the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) context and impact of system strengthening efforts on the rate of WASH progress in target areas. To enable this type of monitoring across the Agency’s WASH portfolio, WSSH D&A will implement an annual surveyeach year of the activity for Missions that choose to participate via buy-in. Findings from the WSSH D&A Y1 Work Plan 2023 |2 WSSH WW annual surveys will be documented and shared with individual Missions, and at Year 3 and Year 5,a portfolio wide report will be prepared to identify wider trends.
Providing Tailored, Evidence-Informed Decision Support
WSSH D&A will provide on-demand customized support to USAID Operating Units to enable evidence-informed decision making. These tailored offerings will be procured through buy-ins and may include a range of WSSH-related data and analytical services.
