Integrated Water Solution Support Technical Assistance (IWSSTA) – Egypt
SEGURA recently began work on this task order under the USAID Making Cities Work (MCW) IDIQ, as subcontractors to Tetra Tech. The IWSSTA project provides technical services to Egypt’s Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) and subsidiary companies in upper Egypt. The project will last from 2019-2023. The IWSSTA purpose is to strengthen the capabilities of the HCWW and its subsidiaries to implement recent GOE initiatives aimed at improving the operational performance and financial sustainability of the water and wastewater sector.
IWSSTA will focus on enhancing the water sector performance and sustainability through four major pillars:
Asset management
Quality of service;
Cost recovery to increase the financial and commercial viability of existing water and wastewater companies; and
Operational efficiency.
Jorge Segura, Managing Partner, said: “We are very pleased to be back working in the water sector in Egypt, having previously assisted the Alexandria Water Company in identifying and evaluating opportunities for private sector participation (PSP) in their operations. With this project we are delighted to expand our collaboration with Tetra Tech in the Middle East region.”
Strengthening the capacity of HCWW and its subsidiaries in these areas will enable them to maintain an effective and efficient system, directly contributing to the sustainability of the water and sanitation services in Egypt. SEGURA’s focus on the project is on utility management, working with a full-time Utility Management Specialist who provides technical expertise and direction during the design and implementation of tasks and activities targeted at improving the management capabilities and performance of the HCWW and its Subsidiaries.
